tough week

The week started with my mom having a fairly routine female-related operation, and ended with the startling news of ovarian-like cancer. A jolt to say the least. I feel comfortable writing about it for the first time tonight because the news was shared with our church family this morning. I won't go into a ton of detail now, but there will be surgery this week, followed with chemotherapy.

Our family is doing OK, not great, but OK. We all feel it at different times. We've all had our moments of reality setting in. We remain optimistic about the outcome, yet overwhelmed with the process. The next few months will most assuredly be different. My dad is living with this the most. He's gaining information as quickly as he can take it in, and determined to be along side for the entire ride. My mom seems to be doing well. I can't imagine what's she's feeling, but her spirits are high.

Our church has been wonderful to us this week. I'm SO grateful to be where we are and have an extended family that loves us. Both my dad and I were absent for this morning's worship, but I hope to be back next weekend. I was able to lead at THE CAUSE last night, and being there ministered to me more that words could express.

Thanks for your prayers. We'll probably be opening a new blog to update you on her progress. I'll post something when that's up.

Josh

Oh my! I was shocked to read this. We will be praying for your Mom as she undergoes treatment.

We will also pray for you, Josh. May you cling to God during this time.

You know that we have been praying for your family. Janie continues to keep my updated. I KNOW that God will heal her. Your mom is strong and tough! You need to stay strong and tough for her!
Read Psalm 91. One of my favorite comforting passages that speaks about God keeping us safe from harm. Take care

Wow. I'm glad you shared that, Josh. My mom had some similar (or what I can only assume is similar) surgery a few months back and it was scary. Now she just got out of the hospital again (something different), so I totally understand what you're going through. I'll be praying for you and your family.
